Are gutter guards worth it?

If you have trees within 50 feet of the house, yes. They keep leaves and pine needles out so water keeps flowing and you're not up a ladder twice a year. They also stop ice dams from forming inside a clogged trough. They don't work well on cheap, flimsy eavestrough, so we often do the two together.

Which gutter guard do you recommend?

We install Alu-Rex and perforated aluminum guards that screw into the trough. They outperform the foam and mesh inserts you see at hardware stores, which clog within a season. Ask us about the warranty on each.
